OLD KLADRUB HORSES ARE ONE OF THE OLDEST BREEDS IN THE WORLD THAT HAS BEEN BREED CONTINOUSLY FOR MORE THAN FOUR HUNDRED YEARS . IT IS A WARM - BLOODED BREED BASED ON OLDSPANISH AND OLDITALIAN BLOOD. THEY BELONG TO THE SO CALLED BAROQUE RACES. TILL THE FIRST HALF OF EIGHTEEN CENTURY THE PRESENT HORSES HAVE REGISTERED THEIR PREDECESSOR. THEY ARE FORM FROM FOUR WHITE BATCH OF HORSES AND FOUR BLACK BATCH OF HORSES. THE BREEDING TARGET IS GALAKAROSSIER WHICH IS POWERFUL COACH-HORSE USED FOR REPRESENTATIVE AND CEREMONIAL PURPOSE.
Convex head with big spunky eye, high seeded arched neck with less noticeable withers, wide and deep chest, huge wide back, good bony fundament, steep shoulder - blade enabling typical movement – elastic,cadenced and spacious motion with high action of chesty limb in trot are the typical symbol of Old Kladrub horses.
White horse Generale was son of white horse Imperatore (1775) and he was the son of black horse Peppoli (1764) who is the stirps of Old Kladrub white horses. The white horses are breeded in two lines which is Generale (founded in 1787) and Generalissimus (founded in 1797) and in four families. One family was spread and split in three others families. The major representation family is the one whose horses nameś begin with letter E,A and P. Common mother of the horses is mare Alba VIII (Generale XXII), born in 1861. Family C was founded in 1894 by the mare Carieara (Blue Boy) and family R Ragusou I (Napoleone Amelia) in 1895. The youngest family is the family S founded by the mare Sardinia (Maestso Gratia).
Old Kladrub horses were originally breeded in various colour variations. Since eighteen century only just in black and white. White horses were used for ceremonial purpose at court and black horses were used for high clergy.
Old Kladrub black horses breed was firstly kept just in two lines, Sacramoso and Napoleone. Napoleone line became extinct in 1922. The Sacramoso Line was founded by a black horse who came from archbishop stud Ries ( close to Salzburk). This line became also by the time extinct and only the second line of Sacramoso was kept. The line was founded by stud horse Sacramoso born in 1800 in Kroměříž. Present breed is based on four basic lines – Sacramoso, Solo, Siglavi, Pakra and Romke. Breeding mares are placed into thirteen families.
While the white horses have been breeded in Kladrub stud without any interruption, the batch of black horses was liquidated and sold out in the thirtieth. In 1938 Prof. František Bílek tried to regenerate the breed of black horses. Kladrub white horses and lipicáni as a genetic kin breeds were used for his regeneration at Research centre in Slatiňany u Chrudimi. Regeneration procedure was successfuly finished in 1973. Nowdays the encourage phase has been in progress.
Current usage of Kladrub horses is various. Charioteer sport is achieving splendid results where black horses availability is presented by charioteer at tilt-yard. They are also used for recreational riding and breaking a horse. For their good-tempered they are excellent for hippotherapy.
Nowdays National stud Kladruby nad Labem s.p.o., has got 37 breeds of stud horses (19 white horses, 18 black horses) and 130 breed mares ( 65 white horses and 65 black horses). They have bred around 300 horses ( no older than 3,5).
Since 2002 all population of Old Kladrub horses has been reserved against new blood from different horses. Except the breed in the stud Kladruby nad Labem , s.p.o., there are many high quality breed horses in a private breeding.
The Old Kladrub horse is the real world unique for his breed and also for his successful breeding work where the unique original breed was raised. In 1995 wide yard of National stud together with Old Kladrub horses were declared as a State historic landmark. He became the only one live creature in the world who might pride oneself. Besides work of arts and architectural jewelery the domestic animal and livestock became as for the first time in the world the centre of listed memories. Not even lipicán from Spanich school succeeded to reach this statute. The statute of superiority in the world belongs to the Czech republic.
